Great Danish Designers is a small, curated list run by one person, Kasper Svenning. This page explains what is collected when a designer is submitted, why it is kept, and how to be taken off the list.

What is collected

For each submission we store the designer’s name, their LinkedIn profile URL, an optional portfolio URL, a screenshot of their website or work, the email address of the person submitting, and — when the submission is about someone else — the designer’s own email address. Both emails are deleted after submission.

Why it is collected

The name, LinkedIn, portfolio and screenshot are what make up an entry on the list. The email addresses are used only to send confirmation links and to get in touch if there is a question about an entry. They are never published, sold, or used for marketing.

Consent is the basis

Nobody goes on the list without clicking a confirmation link sent to their own email address. When a submission is made by someone else, both the designer and the person submitting have to confirm before the entry can be reviewed. Submissions that are never confirmed are not published. Some of the early entries were added manually and will be contacted personally to confirm their place on the list. I added them myself in the early days of Great Danish Designers because I think they are great designers (and they are from Denmark).

What is public

A published entry shows the designer’s name, a link to their LinkedIn profile, a link to their portfolio if one was given, and a screenshot of some of the designers work, their portfolio frontpage or similar. Email addresses are never shown on the site.

Getting removed

You can ask to be removed at any time, and you do not have to give a reason. Use the “Remove me from the list!” link in the menu at the top of any page to write to me directly on LinkedIn. Entries are taken down as soon as possible. You can also ask for a copy of what is stored about you, or ask for it to be corrected.

If you submit someone else

When you submit someone other than yourself, you confirm that the details are accurate as far as you know, and that you have good reason to think the designer wants to be on the list. Please do not submit anyone as a joke, and only upload a screenshot you have the right to use.
